A Productive Morning Routine

A Productive Morning Routine

6 Steps to a More Productive Morning

6 Steps to a Productive Morning Routine I used to be what one would call a “morning person,” but little by little I started slipping into a non-productive morning slump. Each day I would get out of bed later and later, which forced my morning routine to unravel. Soon, I found myself running late, forgetting my keys or my lunch, and once, I even forgot to bring my puppy, Maisy, in from the back yard and left her outside until lunch! Thankfully, it was a beautiful day or that could have ended differently!

That’s the day I realized that something has got to change. I hated the fact that I was always forgetting something and was exhausted before I arrived at work, so I decided to make some changes and these changes have led me to enjoy mornings once again.

The infographic on the left shows my new daily routine which has catapulted my productivity and allows me to enjoy my day. Now I look forward to mornings once again!

A poor morning experience will easily influence your mood for the rest of the day – and even your work performance. I’m going to share the six quick and most-effective habits you could start adapting in order to enjoy a happier morning experience. You will head out the door feeling calm and ready to take on the world!

1 Write a “What I Want to Accomplish…” list before you go to bed. If you prefer, this can be a checklist or a to-do list, nothing elaborate, just gentle reminders for you to review before you walk out the door the next morning.

2 Pack your lunch the night before. This is clutch! There is nothing worse than remembering your lunch and finding out you have nothing to bring. That is the ultimate time-suck.

3 Set the alarm on your cell phone to play a happy tune when it’s time to get up, then, place the phone under your pillow before you go to sleep. The pillow will muffle the alarm so that you wake gently rather than jolted out of sleep. Waking gently starts your day off happier and more relaxed.

4 Keep your bedroom cool at night. If you have a ceiling fan turn it on. If you have a window, open it. The cool air helps you feel refreshed and aids in helping you to wake up.

5 Before you get your coffee or jump in the shower, take 10 minutes to stretch. Learn a few yoga moves and incorporate meditation. Exercise and meditation stimulate the body and relax the mind. When meditating, verbalize or visualize what you are thankful for; an attitude of gratitude can be a major game-changer for the rest of your day!

6 Organize your exit. I find it extremely helpful to keep a wall mount basket next to the door that has all of my essentials. I check the basket just before I leave to ensure I haven’t forgotten anything important, such as allergy medication or other meds, bills, keys, or important notes.
