7 Steps to cozy and comfy fall bedding

Ahhhhhh, there is nothing more rewarding than flopping down in your very own comfy bed. After a long day of work, making dinner, then cleaning up, I really look forward to a hot bath and a warm bed. My kids used to tell me that the best night of sleep they had was just after I washed and changed their sheets, and I agree.

Fall is finally here, my favorite time of the year. I love this season because I love the way this time of year makes me feel, all warm and cozy. I live in the mid-west and for us, we experience all four of the seasons, and for many of us, Fall is the frontrunner as the most admired season. Why? Because of the colorful trees, the smell of pumpkin candles, the warmth of a hardy chili cooking on the stove, and of course, football!

1 Strip the bed completely. If you are one of the few people who still have a dust ruffle or bed skirt on your bed, please get rid of it! As an allergy sufferer, these covers are just a trap for dust and allergens. Plus, they are harder to clean, having to remove the mattress first means they probably are not cleaned as often as we clean our sheets.

2 Creating a warm look is easy when you add a set of white microfiber sheets from mDesign. The sheet set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcase(s). And yes, even though it is fall, white sheets are the only sheets I put on my bed. They are clean and crisp, modern, and naturally go with any other accent color of my choosing and are available in twin, full, queen, or king sizes.

3 Cover your mattress with a neatly fitting mattress protector. The mattress protector is the foundation of a good night’s rest. It adds an extra layer of warmth and comfort as well as protects your mattress.

4 Treat yourself to a new and affordable white down alternative comforter. I prefer a down alternative because as I mentioned earlier, I have allergies. A down alternative comforter is the hypoallergenic way to get that amazing softness without the sneezing. Also, a white comforter is appropriate for every season, but if you prefer, you can add a duvet cover that matches your décor and/or season. I have one for every season, including Christmas.

5 Next, add these incredibly comfortable mDesign pillows and adorn them with appropriate fall colored pillowcases. I use gray-colored pillowcases (a real shocker, I’m sure - I noted in several previous blogs that my house is like 50 shades of gray, right?)

6 Toss a warm and plush throw blanket at the foot of your bed. The blanket can be an altogether different color than the pillows or duvet, just as long as the colors complement each other and tie the look together. Whether you prefer modern or boho, blankets set the stage. Don’t forget to add decorative pillows that match or compliment the look.

7 Don’t forget to add those things to your room that make your room, well, you. Try propping one of our unique storage ladders up against a wall. Toss a few extra throw blankets in various Fall colors over a wrung or two for a cozier feel. Or, place these beautiful woven baskets in the corner of your room. Fill them with extra pillows or throws blankets to gently give your room some warmth.
