DIY Egg Dying with Shaving Cream

For this project you will need hard boiled eggs, shaving cream (foam not gel), food coloring, containers (bowls, muffins tins, and baking sheets work well), toothpicks or a spoon, and paper towels. Gloves are useful if you want to avoid staining your fingers. Before we start coloring, the eggs need to be fully cooled down and dry.

Start by spreading out shaving cream in the container of your choice. Keep it about 1 inch deep so there is plenty of room to dip and roll your eggs.

Add sporadic drops of food coloring in 2-3 different colors. Using a toothpick or spoon, swirl the colors around in the shaving cream to create a marble pattern you like.

Next place an egg into the shaving cream, and roll through the swirled colors until it is fully coated with shaving cream. Set the egg aside and let the shaving cream dry for 15-20 minutes. The longer you wait, the more vibrant the colors will be. Once done, wipe any excess shaving cream off with a paper towel, and your masterpiece is done!

Tips & Tricks:
- Use multiple bowls or muffin cups to create different swirled color combinations to dip eggs into.
- Don’t have shaving cream? You can achieve the same effects using whipped cream.
- Soaking eggs in vinegar for 2-3 minutes prior to dying them will make the colors more pronounced.
