Socially Distanced Entertaining

Socially Distanced Entertaining

How to entertain for groups of 10 or less - in style!

The “new normal”. Is anybody really sure what that means? Well, we are about to find out. As many states are opening back up and lifting stay-at-home orders, many Americans are eager to see their friends and loved ones once again. Let’s face it – I just need to drop my kid and husband off for a week at my mom’s house and shelter-in-place by myself, but I digress…

I am though, looking forward to having my girlfriends over to chat about life and have some wine and cheese! But now, with the new 10 or less rule in place… Oh wait, I only have 3 or 4 friends anyways so the new rule wouldn’t apply to me, but for those of you that have a large social circle, it might take some getting used to. Entertaining might look a little different these days, but with the help from mDesign, you can still be the hostess with the mostest – with distance!

Seating Arrangements

Trying to stay 6 ft. apart won’t be that hard if you set up your room strategically beforehand. Now, no need to get out those tape measurers, just use some common sense. If you are having 3 people over, take one chair away from your table and space out the rest. Or if you are lounging in the living room, have some space on the couch and add chairs opposite of your coffee table.

Setting Up

Now, most of your friends know that you are clean, or why would they come over, amiright? But to be safe, I would wash all your glasses and wine bottles you are going to use. It couldn’t hurt! Then, you can set up your table before your guests arrive because we know you are just going to want to relax with them. Set up your glasses on a tray. That way, you don’t have to go back and forth to the kitchen to get more glassware.

Next, set out your accoutrements on a beautiful marble print board. These boards will make you feel extra fancy. If you want to get a slate serving tray, you can write the names of the cheeses, meats, or crackers in chalk! Whichever you choose, you’ll look like a 5-star restaurant, which everyone could use a little of that right now after being shut away for months!

Pick Your Drinks

For the past 6+ weeks, you have been drinking alone, which in most cases is a problem. But during a pandemic, it was called upon you to do so, and you sir, are a patriot for doing so instead of breaking the government mandates and drinking with your friends. Now we are getting closer and closer to normal life, and you have friends to drink with again! Even if that only means a few at a time, some social interaction does the mind, body, and soul some good.

Whether your drink is beer, wine or, liquor have them ready for your guests! We can’t go out and order any drink imaginable at the bar, so bring the bar to your home and to your (less than 10) friends!

Bar carts – there are so many cute options out there. These are perfect if you have lots of drink options and want a stylish way to display them. Don’t forget to use a cocktail mixer to make some fancy concoctions or the ice bucket to keep those drinks nice and cold for your pals.

Are you drinking Rose or White Wine? Keep them chilled in these marble chillers or beverage tubs. Oh, so chic!

Enjoy!

This doesn’t have to be anything fancy just enjoy spending some time with people that you haven’t gotten to spend quality time with in a while. A lot of people have had to give up their birthday celebrations, weddings, and various other special occasions during the stay-at-home order. We know it isn’t going to be the same, but it’ll bring a smile to their faces to celebrate these special events with your loved ones, even if it is more dialed down this time. Have fun and remember to practice safe social distancing! No hugs, handshakes, or sitting too close. We are not out of the woods yet!
