When you think of bringing babies home from the hospital, you think of new mothers beaming from ear to ear getting wheeled out of the hospital, excited, and exhausted from the past few days’ events. Most people glance over the dad pushing the mother and sometimes we forget what vital roles our partners play during this time. Staying organized as the support partner is just as important as the person who is giving birth.
At mDesign, we have products in mind to help you streamline your organization and calm the chaos during this time.
First, let’s talk about the hospital stay. You will need to pack a bag a couple of weeks beforehand. Using a travel accessories bag helps keep everything in place when you need it. We suggest using all those hotels samples you have swiped over the years to fill this bad boy – oh wait, you don’t have a whole drawer dedicated to travel sized hotel samples? Me neither…
Coming home is a whole other story. Once you are home It. Is. Real. No more nurses on call to answer any questions you have or help you swaddle your little one, how do they get that swaddle so tight?!? It’s just you and hopefully your partner, if you’re lucky. When they say it takes a village, it truly does take a village! I’m sure during COVID most of you found this out.
One item that is a must-have for any first-time or veteran parent is the hanging crib or changing table caddy. This is the accessory that everyone needs. It has a home for diapers, wipes, teething toys, diaper cream – you name it! Heck, even if you can’t name it, I’m sure there is a home for it in here. IMPORTANT TIP: help change the diapers, partners! This is the one thing you can you do especially for breastfeeding mommas. Even just offering goes a long way.
Next, having this felt organizer next to you in the room that you hang out in the most. For our house, it is the family room. I have this stocked with wipes, face masks, sanitizer, diapers, bibs, anything you can think of. I even keep the remotes in there when I pick up at night. Everything can be stored, and it looks super nice on display. Plus, with the handle, you can take this from room-to-room while you watch your little ones.
Helping keep organized is one thing that all new moms and dads don’t know they need. This is a game changer for those new parents and first-time dads! One thing I hear most often is how can my partner help me? This is how! Keeping items at an arm’s reach is helpful to everyone. Good luck and you got this!
