Fall Crockpot Meals
Cooler weather means it’s time to bring out your crockpot!
Ahhh, fall. As the season changes and it gets cooler, it’s time to break out the crockpot! This is one of my favorite tools in the kitchen. Mainly, because it’s just one pot and I can set it and forget it. When I was working in the office it was perfect to put it on in the morning before I left for work and then was greeted by the wafting sent of dinner when I came home. Now, I can still use this machine while I’m working from home and I never have that “Oh no! I forgot to put on the crockpot!” while sitting in my office.
Crockpots are great for dinners, but did you also know you can use them to fill your house with seasonal smells, too? And it doesn’t take that much effort. Who needs expensive candles when you can do it yourself, amiright? Start by gathering together your favorite citruses and spices. Personally, I love slicing 3 oranges, 2 cinnamon sticks and several bunches of Rosemary, placing them in a crockpot on warm with 2-3 cups of water, turning it on and that’s it! Your house will be smelling amazing in a few short minutes and the scent will last all day.
If you want more of that fresh-baked cookies scent, replace the rosemary with 2 tablespoons of vanilla. Just try not to eat it, ok??
Another alternative to homecooked meals is drinks in the crockpot! You can do a spiced rum drink or a more kid-friendly hot cocoa. You can also have hot cocoa for the kids, with a little Bailey’s Irish Cream on the side to give it a kick for the adults! Again, this is so easy you can have your kids help and keep them entertained for a solid 5 minutes. They may continue to ask, “is it done yet?” 1,000 times though!

Since we are all stuck at home, why not find creative ways to serve this to our families? Use a simple bar cart to create a hot cocoa station that your family can mix and match while watching those Hallmark movies. If you don’t have enough room, use a serving tray to help bring all the topping out.
So, the whole reason you probably bought the crockpot was to make meals in them. They are quick, easy, and low maintenance. No need to mess with the hot stove or burner and all the dishes afterwards! One of my family favorites come fall time is Crack Chicken – bacon and cheese? Yes, please! When the meal is done just simply put out some paper plates or bowls and utensils and bam! Dinner is done with easy cleanup, too!

Again, just throw all these ingredients in the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
