World Chocolate Day

World Chocolate Day

Organize Your Chocolate – and Your Pantry – on This Tasty Holiday

World Chocolate Day might officially be the tastiest holiday of the year – and it is certainly cause for celebration! Any excuse to savor a sweet treat, am I right? It’s a great reason to get together with friends and throw a themed party, and it’s an even better reason to keep your favorite snacks and desserts stored in your kitchen when you need a middle of the day or late-night snack.

Here at mDesign, we want to share some our favorite chocolate indulgences, as well as the top ways to organize and store the backups or leftovers in your pantry.

1 Chocolate Cake

Our first choice goes without saying – chocolate cake is simply a classically delicious staple of any dessert table. It’s easy to dress this recipe up or down. Add icing and sprinkles, drizzle with caramel or hazelnut sauce, serve with a scoop of ice cream and dollop of whipped cream, or just enjoy it on its own.

Serve your cake to friends or family on a classic cake stand, or slice it into bite size pieces and present it on a multi-tier serving stand from mDesign that is sure to impress. Wrap extras in plastic wrap or tinfoil and keep this stand on your counter, island, or pantry shelf for easy access when you want to go back for seconds (and thirds).

2 Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bars

When you’re in the mood for a decadent Reese’s peanut butter cup right at home, try out this easy 3-ingredient recipe from The Stay At Home Chef for the ultimate indulgence. All you need is chocolate chips, peanut butter, and powdered sugar!

Extend the shelf life of this goodie when you pack it in one of our airtight containers. The silicone seal on these clear bins will keep your food fresher longer. They’re a perfect solution for baked treats you want to keep in your pantry but work just as well in the fridge or freezer as needed. If you find yourself with a late-night craving – you’ll know exactly where to find your rich, homemade snack.

3 Chocolate Drinks

A slightly unorthodox choice but hear me out on this one. Rich, chocolate-flavored drinks are not only super popular, but there are healthy options that quench your thirst as well as tasting great. Whether you’re picking up a tray of customized cold brew Starbucks drinks to serve with brunch, grabbing a pack of Yoo-hoo for the kiddos to take to school in their lunchboxes, or going for a low-cal refreshment like Boost, Ensure, or Slimfast while you work from home or at the office, there are plenty of beverages that you can have to celebrate World Chocolate Day properly.

Give these drinks their own spot in your cabinets or even the fridge with a stylish Lazy Susan turntable spinner from mDesign. For optimal pantry storage, choose an eco-friendly natural bamboo version that has your choice of high or low sides, or a sleek, 2-tier plastic spinner that helps you go vertical and maximizes pantry or fridge shelf space.

4 Chocolate Charcuterie Boards

Now this is a wonderfully versatile option when you can’t decide what sort of chocolate you want to eat. Instead, mix and match snacks and desserts and arrange it all in a festive spread on a decorative tray. Chocolate cookies, cupcakes, brownies, cake pops, covered fruit, or, mixed nuts can be paired with complementary items such as pastries, the above mentioned drinks, or even wine and cheese for a savory, indulgent array that will satisfy every craving.

When not in use, tuck these slim serving trays upright along the wall of your pantry shelves in order to save room. mDesign offers trays and boards in slatemarbleacrylic, and a bamboo/glass combo. These boards elevate the beauty of your spreads and match any décor aesthetic.

5 Chocolate Candy

Did I save the best for last? Maybe. Or maybe it goes without saying that candy should automatically be included in a post about all things celebrating chocolate.

How can you not grab a piece (or 10) of candy when participating in such a bittersweet, international holiday? One of the best things about candy is that it’s portable. You can take a bag or bowl of sweets with you to enjoy in bed with a book or on the couch with a movie, especially after a long day. You can throw a few pieces in with your lunch or keep them in your desk at the office to share with your colleagues. You can even chill them in the fridge for a cool snack on a hot summer day. Whatever your preference – fun, bar, bag, party, or king size, there’s endless candies for any type of sweet tooth.

Keep bags of candy or bars of chocolate sorted and organized in your pantry with decorative woven or wire baskets, or ditch the brightly-colored wrappers and put a lid on things with a matching set of clear canister jars so you can easily spot your favorites when you have a hankering.

I’m just scratching the surface of all the ways to observe and honor World Chocolate Day – and all the ways you can keep (or hide) your chocolate in your pantry so that it’s organized and always within reach (or out of reach from little hands!). For now, I’m sure this post has made you hungry for something sweet, or it’s made you want to go on an organizing spree. I urge you to do both! Start celebrating early and enjoy a yummy morsel of your favorite chocolate while you reconfigure the optimal layout for everything cluttering your pantry. In the famous words of Donna Meagle from NBC’s Parks and Recreation, “treat yo’ self,” and have a very happy World Chocolate Day from all of us here at mDesign.
