Create a Home Spa

In need of some me time? Us too! Here is how to enjoy the spa experience at home.

With these unclear times, going to a spa does not exactly sound all that relaxing to me. The whole point of the spa is to let your hair down and unwind, all while having the spa staff relatively close to you physically. But during COVID-19, it is hard to be close to someone you do not know with all the uncertainty surrounding the virus. So, why not bring the spa to your home instead? If you have little ones at home, this is a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon! While we continue to adjust to our new normal, this is one easy way we can bring some calm to the chaos.

There are a few simple steps you can follow to bring the spa to your home – and who knows, you may never go back, and you can save a few bucks, too!

Scents

When you think of the spa, you think of the wonderful aromas. They must pump good-smelling scents into their vents! There are several different ways you can bring in some good scents into your home to really bring the spa to you. First, try a diffuser with essential oils. You can plug this portable smell machine anywhere and change out the essential oils to match any mood you want. Second, candles! You can pick up candles almost anywhere and place them around the room you are transforming into spa central. If you are experiencing this with your child, the diffuser might be the safer option, but candles do give off a nice glow that add to the ambiance.

Store your scents in a couple of different ways. To keep them handy, put them in this tote or basket to grab-and-go when you need them. Or keep them out in these round, woven baskets. Either way, make it your own!

Towels

I am not a robe person, but at the spa? You bet! I don’t know what it is, but at the spa that I look forward to being in a soft, comfy, oversized robe. At home, it just seems like more laundry to me. Since we are trying to bring the spa home, I would suggest investing in a soft robe along with some new, fluffy towels. I found spa-like towels with Velcro that are easily stay on your body. Now, trying to store all these extra towels may be challenging for you. You can add hooks to your bathroom, either on the back of the door or on your wall to hang your new robe. To add additional storage to your bathroom, think about a free-standing rack. You can put your slippers, candles, or diffuser on the bottom shelf. To help with the extra towels you just bought, think about a 6-tier towel storage rack that hangs on the wall. This will store your towels in a decorative way!

Sounds

Birds chirping, waterfall, nature sounds, white noise. Those are just some of the standard sounds you hear when you are relaxing at the spa. Now, most of us have a smart assistant at home and it’s easy to have them play “spa sounds” when you are ready to relax. Just ask Google or Alexa to help you out! No need to purchase a CD – are those still a thing??

Procedures

Now that you have everything you need for a spa at home, it’s time to think about what experiences you want to enjoy. You don’t need a certificate to still enjoy spa-quality treatments at home!

Try giving yourself a spa manicure. While you are giving yourself a manicure, try a face-mask that can reduce those wrinkles and smooth skin at the time or even a scrub that will moisturize and revitalize your beautiful face!

Bubble baths are a great way to relax at home. Not only does the steam unclog your pores but adding a bath bomb can soften skin and emit a lovely aroma as well. Yes, I give you permission to lock the door and not let anybody else in! This is your time. Add an audio book or podcast to zone out in the bath and pass the time.
